I make applesauce.

Yes, you can buy it at the store.

But homemade is oh so much better.

It taste oh so delicious.

It’s oh so very simple and easy.

And your home will smell oh so wonderful.

So, grab some apples and let’s make applesauce!

Homemade Applesauce

6-8 apples

1/4 cup water



Wash and core apples.  Quarter them and then cut each quarter in half.

I don’t peel them.  There are lots of good stuff in that peel.  And any red color in the apples gives the applesauce a pink tint.  (I love pink!)

You can cut the pieces smaller.  The smaller the pieces, the faster it cooks and the smaller the pieces of skin.

Place apple pieces in a pot with a 1/4 cup of water and a sprinkling of cinnamon.  Cover and simmer until tender.

Don’t simmer too long, you’ll lose good nutrients.  Just until tender enough to mash.

Using a masher, smoosh it all up right in the pot until you’ve reached the consistency you prefer.

Add sugar and cinnamon to taste.

We rarely ever add sugar.  it tastes great as it is.

And if you have kiddos that are old enough to use the stove, its easy enough that you could delegate this!
